This week was for stores that sell to other businesses, and for the paperwork that comes with it.

New this week

Tax-exempt checkout

Shoppers can tick This order is tax-exempt at checkout and enter their exemption or resale certificate number. Tax drops to zero and the number is saved with the order. Off unless you turn it on in Settings → Tax → Tax-Exempt Checkout.

  • Works with Stripe, PayPal, Venmo and cash
  • The order page shows Tax: Exempt with the certificate number
  • The number is recorded, not checked; confirming a customer's exemption is still up to you

Invoices paid in parts

Customers can pay an invoice in installments, choosing how much to pay each time, with a payment history on the invoice.

  • Record cash, check or ACH payments yourself
  • Invoices show Paid and Balance Due, and a new Partially Paid status
  • Mark Paid records a real payment, so your books match

Snap a receipt

Snap a receipt on Add Expense opens your camera, reads the receipt and creates the expense for you to check. Phone upload pages also let you pick a photo you already took.

Smaller things that add up

  • Receipt scanning reads photographed receipts more accurately, and no longer splits a part code and its description into two lines
  • Receipt scanning is billed on its own at $0.02 a scan, on any plan or trial, and only runs once a payment method is on file
