This week filled in the other half of the books (the money going out) and tidied up inventory so it all lives in one place.
New this week
Bills and what you owe
A new Bills section in Accounting tracks what you owe suppliers.
- Receiving a purchase order creates its bill for you
- Record full or part payments, with a history on each bill
- See total unpaid and overdue at a glance, on the bills list and the Accounting dashboard
- Add bills by hand for things like utilities and services
- The Balance Sheet now uses your real unpaid bills
Cash or accrual
Choose your Accounting Method in Accounting Settings. Accrual records an expense when the goods arrive; cash records it when you pay. The Profit & Loss shows which one you're using.
One inventory page
The separate Items list is now part of the main Inventory page. With Advanced Inventory you also see unit cost (editable right there), supplier, location and a margin light, with filters by supplier and location.
Smaller things that add up
- Analytics list every product and page viewed, sortable and searchable
- Search as you type when building a bill of materials, much easier on a phone
- PayPal and Venmo orders now pass the shipping address to PayPal, so physical orders qualify for PayPal Seller Protection
- SKU is optional when adding an item; Kaniva numbers it for you
- Purchase orders have an editable ship-to and their own bill-to address
- Phone orders show the right price for products with options
Security and reliability
A routine security review found and fixed several issues.
