When another tool is the better choice

If you need PIES product data, or a parts catalogue that comes with the VCdb vehicle data built in rather than read through your own subscription, a platform built around fitment data is the better choice today.

Questions

Does Kaniva have a year/make/model picker?

Yes, on every storefront theme. Shoppers pick a year, make and model (and a submodel or engine when you list them), the shop then shows only the parts that fit, and each product page says whether it fits. Signed-in customers keep their vehicles in a saved garage.

Do I have to re-enter fitment for every part?

No. If you already file parts under vehicle categories like "Jeep Cherokee XJ 84-01", link each category to its vehicle once and every part in it fits. Add fitment lines on a part only for what a category doesn't say, or import them from a spreadsheet.

Does Kaniva support ACES?

Fitment is kept in the ACES shape, with VCdb numbers next to each vehicle. ACES files import, and export, once your VCdb subscription is connected to your store; until then a spreadsheet import does the same job.

Can one part fit several vehicles?

Yes. File the product under each vehicle's category and it shows on every one, with all of them on its Fits line.

Can I sell some parts from stock and build others to order?

Yes. Each product is stocked or built to order, and build-to-order products show their lead time before the customer buys.

Can I sell DIY kits?

Yes. A kit is a product with a bill of materials, so building or packing it uses the parts in stock.

Can I sell at shows and events?

Yes. The POS sells from the same catalogue and stock as the web store.
