This week widened where a store's orders can go: overseas, across town, or across the counter.
New this week
International shipping
Choose the countries you ship to in Settings → Shipping → Shipping Countries, and checkout offers only those.
- International carrier rates appear for orders going abroad
- Customs forms are filled in for you when you make the label
- Each product has an HS / Tariff Code and Country of Origin, also in the product spreadsheet
- Stores that don't set countries carry on shipping within the US as before
Local pickup and local delivery
Offer pickup or delivery to customers within a set number of miles of your shop, each with its own price (free is fine) and instructions like opening hours.
- Shown at checkout only to customers close enough
- Orders show a pickup or delivery badge, and you can filter the order list by them
- Pickup orders skip the shipping label
A store without a public shop
For businesses that sell by phone, quote or invoice, the public catalogue, cart and checkout can be switched off, leaving a branded landing page with your blog, pages and contact form. The whole admin keeps working. Available on request.
Smaller things that add up
- The welcome checklist ticks off setup steps as you finish them
- Shipping with a single label now records a box, so the packing page shows what's shipped and reships are easy
- Type free-form box contents for reships and replacement parts
- Set your own build-to-order title and note on each product, or one default for the store
- The dashboard and order lists load faster
- The income report labels physical and digital orders correctly
- kaniva.io has new pages for integrations and how Kaniva compares, and every plan now includes a custom web address
Security and reliability
A routine security review found and fixed several issues. Emails and background jobs now run behind the scenes, so pages don't wait on them.
What's next
Voiding shipping labels, colour presets for your theme, and installing the admin as an app on your computer.
